The majority of the 2020/21 FA Cup campaign was played in empty stadiums, owing to the corona virus pandemic restrictions at the time. The lack of fans certainly created some unexpected shocks, including Marine making it to the 3rd round where they played Tottenham. That was the biggest ever gap between two teams in the history of the cup, 161 league places.
Fixture congestion was an issue too on the back of the delayed 2019/20 season finish, this mean for 2020/21 there were no replays in the cup at all.
Despite being a strange season the final was certainly an FA Cup classic. 20,000 fans were allowed to attend the final, a novelty at the time. Four time runners up Leicester (1949, 1961, 1963 & 1969) played eight time winners Chelsea and most expected it to end up with another Chelsea win. Leicester, however, had other ideas and finally won their first FA Cup at the fifth time of asking, winning 1-0 in normal time thanks to a stunning Tielemans long range rocket.
Even in the most bizarre of seasons the magic of the FA Cup lives up to its billing.
