Ligue 2 Stadiums & Stats
The second tier French Division 2 (as it is formally known) and equivalent of the English Championship. Unlike in England the league has the same number of teams as the top division, 20. The league was founded a year after the first division in 1933.
In France there are only two professional leagues so relegation from this division is big business, teams will end up in the amateur Championnat National which technically revokes any professional status. Each year the top two teams are promoted to Ligue 1.
With some of France’s biggest teams not immune to the drop there are some top class teams and stadia in this league
